RECO BRA® – ‘Recovery Bra’

Unlike most post-surgical bras RECO BRA® has been given a registered trade and branded name to help customers looking for a recovery bra to find the product and verify its quality and purpose.
RECO BRA® has been designed by Nicole de Havilland.

Nicole has worked within the breast cancer patient industry as a therapist for over twenty years. She has worked within an NHS unit for over seventeen years and her career has included working as part of the team in both The London Breast Institute and The London Breast Clinic Harley Street.

The idea of a seamless recovery bra came to Nicole when her patients expressed disappointment that they could not find a suitable bra to wear immediately following breast surgery. The continuing lack of a suitable post-surgical recovery bra, together with the skin irritation and broken skin Nicole witnessed in patients wearing inappropriate bras, lead her to take the initiative and develop a bra to address the specific needs of post operative recovery.

The result of four years of research and development, RECO BRA® has been specifically and professionally designed with the patient’s foremost needs post-surgery.

The seamless design reduces irritation of incision sites, especially under the bust area. The RECO BRA® supports without a wire by its unique built in compression bust zones , with compression zones also incorporated in the back and thoracic areas to provide the ultimate inbuilt support.

The RECO BRA® holds two certificates; the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 which means that the fabric and all parts of the garment pass the human/ecological testing processes: www.oeko-tex.com.

The second is the MaedicalTM certificate; this technological revolution applied to the fabric eliminates hospital super bug strains, bacteria and moulds. The protection begins to work as soon as the microorganism comes into contact with the surface of the garment. (Read more)

It then works continuously to maintain a consistently lower bio-burden than would be expected on a product without the protection. The protection is added at the end of the yarn weaving process and will not wash off or wear away for the lifetime of the garment. This treatment will also ensure that odour does not develop and the RECO BRA® will stay fresher for longer between washes.

RECO BRA® is one of the first ever post-surgical bras to have this tested and proven medical antimicrobial treatment.

Nicole’s aim is to get Reco Bra onto the NHS Drug Tariff,
so that every woman undergoing breast cancer surgery will receive a Reco Bra.
The ambition for the RECO BRA® project came from a place of the heart.
The realisation of what Nicole set out to do from the start led to the naming
of the company RECO HEART LTD.

Nicole has great warmth and empathy for her patients and her passion never relents.
Her hope for the future is to have further products that complement the post-surgical phase,
with the continued aim to make a difference to the lives of women in recovery.
